Pops is clearly helping his draft prospects.  The only thing holding him back now is a short-to-mid-range jumpshot.  I say this because he isn't a center in the NBA and teams are going to epect their 4 to hit more regularly from 10 feet in.

The reality is that Pops is not even an NBA 4 - his size is more like an NBA 3.  His skill set just does not project well to the NBA, given his size.  He doesn't have much of a short to medium range game.  Not a good ball handler.  Look at today's NBA -- Jared Jeffries at 6'11" is playing the 2 spot for the Wizards.  I think Hall has a better chance because he projects well as an NBA 3 - good shooter, rebounder, defender, passer.  He could sneak in the second round and make a team.

Pops clearly has been playing much better - don't know if it was the bad ankle healing or nerves about showing well for the scouts.  I love Pops, but ultimately I see him playing in Europe.

If you follow the Wizards you'll soon see that their biggest weakness is not having a tough inside player.  Jamison is seen as undersized and not nearly physical enough 4.  I love Jamison's game.  But NBA winning teams want guys like Drew Gooden, Carlos Boozer, Elton Brand, Dwight Howard, Rasheed Wallace, Kevin Garnett, Kenyon Martin etc. at the 4.  ESPECIALLY since the Wiz don't have a legitimate power 5 either.  If the Wiz had a real 4 then they could play Jamison at his more natural 3 position.  NOBODY fears driving in the lane against the Wiz.

Look at NBA rosters and tell me who plays the 4 spot regularly who has Pops' skill set?

I'm not saying that Pops isn't big enough to play some 4.  It is more that he is not powerful or tough enough.  When you can't score or hit foul shots then you can make a team by being a role player like Michael Ruffin.   By being a GREAT rebounder (Hall is a better rebounder than Pops).  By playing great defense.  By being an incredible hustle guy who sets the screens, gets the loose balls etc.  I'm pretty sure that Pops aint going into the NBA and getting those dunks on most power centers or 4's.  They'll foul him EVERY time and he hasn't shown he can hit foul shots. 

We will see what he does net year and the years after that but for now just enjoy this year. All I know is I love Pops and I love GW.  I'm just loving all the hype and the great season. So GO COLONIALS BABY!

Think about Pops after 4-5 years with a good NBA strength program on top of the growth we've seen at GW.  Look at Alonzo now -- he was always strong but he's got 20-30 pounds of muscle he didn't have in college. There are a lot of NBA players not much bigger than Popos who are getting time at the 4 and 5 who don't have his skill set.  Michael Ruffin?  The guy has nothing but hustle.  Pops may never be a star but he could play. 

We can argue this forever, and we won't know until net season or maybe years after that, but there are a lot worse specimens who've made successful NBA careers for themselves.

First of all, recall that Pop's was measured at the NBA predraft  last year and is only 6' 7 and 3/4" without sneakers.  He's not 6'9".  The A10 just doesn't have many good big men so he's not being challnged that much.  Put him on UConn and he would play behind Gay, Boone and Armstrong.  If you put him on most any team in the Big East and you'd never hear of him because of the much better caliber of big men in that league.   He's a long shot to make an NBA roster.

whatever, he will, i repeat will get drafted.  I think NBA scouts know more than any of us and they say he has something to look at.

Unless Pops develops a consistent J, his best bet is to attempt to assert himself with defensive intensity, hustle and rebounding a la Dennis Rodman or Ben Wallace
