Learned Hand: We're almost entirely in agreement. The only difference I see is a West Coast trip. To build the team's name nationwide, like Gonzaga (our prototype for what we want to be), we need to travel to places that still think we're Georgetown. How about a Big Ten/Big 12 road game or two every year? What about a 2 or 3-game trip to UCLA/USC/Stanford/Cal/Gonzaga/Washington/Oregon? My ideal OOC would be this:
Home - George Mason, Hofstra, MVC Team, Old Dominion, Manhattan/Iona
Road - Big 10 team, Big 12 team, West Coast Team #1, West Coast Team #2, MVC/MAC team
Neutral - Maryland (BB&T)
I know, its etremely ambitious. However, Temple, St. Joe's, and Gonzaga do it every year, and its our only way of countering any year where the A-10 is not, ahem, up to snuff. Just think of where we'd be if we went 22-3 with this schedule, rather than 24-1 with our current schedule. We'd probably be around the same spot in the rankings, maybe a few spots lower, but far higher in the RPI.
It's well worth the investment, especially by epanding the GW brand around the nation to the poor souls who lack the sweet sounds of A-10 TV's fabulous broadcasting teams, and therefore, have yet to see us.
