I'm not sure if Guest has been formally offered a scholarship.  If he has been or will be then what that means is that one of the above 10 players would not be returning OR one of the last 3 players would not be coming.If Trey Davis doesn't commit then I would imagine that Hobbs would rather get another PG than to go for another big.  He could be a fallback recruit if Jabari ends up not coming back or he could be a fallback if another guy from the above transfers.  I think that it's VERY safe to say that Hobbs was planning on Jabari graduating all year long and was recruiting with that in mind.  Jabari's near miraculous level improvement at the very end of the year apparently was enough to convince Hobbs to consider keeping him for a 5th year.

Does anyone know if Copes and Davis are qualified?

Jarred Guest is having a visit with Shaka Smart and VCU - I imagine that Mr. Guest will be playing next year in Richmond.

This one says NC State has now offered.

But few can offer the potential of playing on a two-Guest team.

Scout now saying that Tennessee is interested.  Maybe he would consider GW as a under-recruited, under-sized forward (to play behind Copes), but sounds very unlikely now.

Let's hope he's a great student interested in international affairs and playing in cozy gyms.

I was clearly never recruited.  BUt these kids all seem to really like Hobbs.  One thing that jumped out at me from the signing of Trey Davis was his comment that Hobbs was the first and longest to recruit him.  Kids seem to like that- it makes them actually feel wanted.  When a team like Tenn or NC State is recruiting him now, Hobbs can say things like "I wanted you all along- you're our guy...you're their fallback plan.

The obvious implication of being a fallback plan is that the school might fall in love with somebody else the year after.  We've discussed a lot of the "recruiting over" idea recently- but I think hobbs being the first guy in-well before the big schools- gives him the ability to say "we're recruiting YOU" as opposed to "we're recruiting a NEED" which could be filled by lots of different guys.

Hobbs might not get Guest, but kudos to Hobbs and staff for his ability to seem to be frequently ahead of the game with recruiting.

I guess no one wants to answer but are both Copes and Davis qualified? The answer to that might go along way into answering how hard we are pushing for Guest and whether Edwards returns.

Somewhere awhile back I read something that said one or both still needed to qualify (could be old news) can't find it now so that's why I am asking.

As to qualification - generally most guys need to successfully complete their senior year to formally qualify.  I also haven't heard of any problems though.

 He's committed to VCU.
