The feeling I got watching the 2005-06 team don the Buff and Blue is not something I'll ever forget -- nor is it anything we'll see again in our lifetimes, very likely. The play was as exciting as it gets. The kids were energetic and fun to watch, and, for the most part -- despite much criticism in side and outside the university -- were a credit to GW.

Thanks, coach Hobbs for giving Colonials fans a lot to cheer about the last 10 years. You did a very fine job, working under real limitations.

 Seconded. Similar to a few posters in the other thread, Hobbs has been in the only GW coach I've known since i was in that '06 class. Still brings a very warm feeling to my heart to think about the good times and boy were they ever good.

All that being said, there were good reasons for a fresh start for the program after the last few years, so I can understand where the administration's move (if not the timing yet). I harbor no ill will toward Hobbs though and I'll hope he'll be part of the GW basketball community in the years to come.

 Well said, Mentzinger and Abe. For the younger generation on this board, that '05-'06 team is, and may always be, the first thing we think of when we think of GW basketball. As critical as most have been of Hobbs (myself included), we literally bowed down to him when he took the court in those days. He took the program to a level rarely enjoyed by schools like ours, and that will always be a warm memory.

While I've slowly come around to the realization that it's time for Hobbs to go, I don't harbor any ill will either. I hope he always counts himself part of the GW family and we as fans should do the same for him. We've experienced some amazing things together.

There were some lean years recently, but Hobbs did a great job ensuring the program stayed out of the gutter Penders left it in.

We may have had some lean seasons lately, but we will always remember being #6 in the country.  That was great!  As the old saying goes, Coaches Were Hired To Be Fired.  Thanks Coach Hobbs, #6 in the country still feels great.

Coach Hobbs, your accomplishments at GW will never be forgotten and certainly will never be taken for granted by me.  For a four year stretch, you were a miracle worker leading four teams to postseason play, two A10 championships, and a remarkable 2005-06 season.  You deserved far better treatment and respect, not just today but for many days over the past four years.  I can only hope for your own sake that your next head coaching job will allow you to recruit the players you want and that you are not hamstrung by a department that says it wants a leading national program but is unwilling to back this up based on their words and actions.

It saddens me to say this as an alum, but you deserve better than Foggy Bottom.  Good luck to you and your family.

I have no ill-will toward KH and wish him well. The roller-coaster ride here was a scintilating as it was nausea-inducing. Here is hoping both KH and GW move on the bigger and better things.

Lots of energy, great recruiter, hated losing. All characteristics we want in our next coach.

I endorse these posts.  He brought in a lot of excellent  young men who gave us a lot of great memories, and always worked hard to help them and the team succeed. 

As the program's biggest and most positive booster/insider, DEA will want to weigh in here, I know he will.

Just found out about his departure tonight. Didn't expect it. One thing KH gave GW which I thought we would never see was an A10 Championship. He actually gave us two, which I will forever be grateful to him for. Good luck to him in the future, and thanks for all the good times he has given us.
