Wow - this interest has only been publicly reported for weeks. Google Kuroda to Yankees. What a scoop! Next we will learn from LFO that Obama will win the 2008 election. How does this guy do it time and time again?

We certainly have our share of ungrateful little prissies on this board.  Guess what?  This was the first I had heard of a Kuroda trade rumor and I thank LFO for sharing the information.  What is the problem with some of you people?  LFO didn't announce this as "an exclusive".  He didn't claim to be the first to break the story.  He was simply sharing information that is of interest to me and perhaps might be to others here.  He specifically indicated that the post had nothing to do with GW basketball.  Maybe those of you who have this enormous problem with someone coming on this board and sharing accurate information can take a step away from your keyboards and go back to kicking your puppies or whatever it is you do in your free time.

The problem is its a private message to you about something unrelated to gw basketball on a public gw basketball message board.

Diageo, let's face it.  You're upset over how LFO characterized Jack and Dom.  If it's your intent to vent your frustration towards LFO each time he posts here, it's going to get very old very fast.  To respond to your points:

1) Unrelated to GW basketball.  Interesting that you didn't offer that comment on the bad songs of alltime thread.  Besides, LFO points this out in the thread's title which conveniently allows readers to bypass the thread if they''d like to stick to GW basketball.  By the way, why didn't you do that?

2) Private Message.  Not really.  The stuff that truly is private never makes it here. 

3) Repeated failure to use e-mail.  I think this may be an ISP issue.  Try sending an e-mail to longingforoscar@lfo.com and let me know if it works for you.

4) No new information.  Wrong. As NBC used to say in its summer promos, "if you haven't seen it, then it's new to you."

5) I'd know this if I were a Yankee fan.  Since I go back to the days of Tresh, Clarke, Pepitone, White, Michael, Kenney, Stottlemeyer, Peterson, Kekich, Hamilton, McDaniel, and others prior to the Bronx Zoo Yankees, I don't think I'd be barking down this tree.  I watch the Yankees far more than any other team in baseball to this day.  I'm not quyestioning my own fandom simply because I was unaware of a certain trade rumor.  It was actually pointless of you to even mention this.

6) History of LFO trying to big-time everyone.  This is the one where I laugh the hardest.  If you knew who LFO really was, you'd be laughing too.  Suffice it to say that LFO is a pretty important person in his field who has revealed numerous pieces of "inside information" on this site.  This is the last time I'll even remotely attempt to qualify his credentials to you. 

MV, you spend an awful lot of time here defending your boy who apparently has such great credentials that apparently should speak for themselves. Makes people wonder. But let's just put it this way, a guy who supposedly has the credentials LFO has - doesn't have email or a way to contact you and feels the need to come here and make false and malicious statements that could be traced to him. Sorry I'm not buying that bs. As I once said I'm quite confident that LFO spends his days in his mother's basement playing xbox and surfing the net. I'll go with that until proven otherwise.

How can credentials on an anonymous person speak for themself?  Who are you Diageo?  Steven Wright?  The ghost of George Carlin?  Look, I'm not asking you to believe anything and could honestly care less if you do or don't.  What is factual is that when Pops signed with an NBA team, it was LFO who reported this a day or two before it was publicized.  When the Wizards decided to look at Mike Hall, it was LFO who first told us.  When Pops was suspended before the start of his senior year, it was LFO who broke the news to us.  He assured us that GW had little chance of signing Spoon's little brother. And this is all just GW stuff.  If you'd like to continue to insist that he's an "unconnected" guy who lives in his mother's basement, it's only making you look more and more foolish.  You may not like his style or choice of words which is certainly your prerogative.  But to suggest that he isn't privy to inside information within the sports world is just not accurate.

These fights between "Diageo" (clearly somebody who worked in the previous athletic department) and LFO and MV are hillarious. We're all winners.

I was trying to provide some inside information for Yankee fans, and MV in particular.  I didn't check, but I doubt there's any word on the street about this proposed trade.  Feel free to prove me wrong; no ego involved but I'd be surprised because I was there when the call was received.  Either way, thank you MV.  You are the best and most thought provoking poster on this board and we are all lucky to have you.  Even if you disagree with me, you are fair and reasonable.  In regard to the attacks directed at me from one particular board dimwit, it's unfortunate that he can't recognize and/or come to terms with the truth about our former AD and his trusty assistant, the two fools who almost destroyed GW basketball.

Sad but true Newtman.  I put up with a lot of Met fans who emerged from out of the woodwork when they won in 1969.  but the late 1970's were kind of nice and the late 1990's were even nicer.

It's truly sad but there is one poster who embodies the essence of the word ignorant.  A producer of garbage liquors, some of which are marketed as high end.  Even the green and blue are trash.  A lurker who knows little to nothing about the workings and essential trappings of the real sports business world.  Someone who has shared nothing of value with the gwhoops community.  And, worst of all, a defender of stupidity and failure with nothing to back up his attacks but profanity.  Thank goodness most GW students and alumni have reasonable IQs and are generally better informed and able to separate reality from fiction.  

MV, don't forget about Bobby Murcer, a true friend and great Yankee.  Maybe he couldn't quite fill Mantle's shoes but he did a damn good job during difficult times.  And remember, it was Bobby who had the guts to stand up to Bowie Kuhn with regard to the cheating Gaylord Perry.  He took a lot of heat for speaking the truth.  Too bad there aren't more people like Bobby who will speak the truth even if others don't like it.

Thank you for amplifying my point...certain board posters resort to profanity and lunacy because they don't like to hear the truth.  This fool, apparently goes back many years as a poster on this board but has chosen to change his anonymous name to that of a terrible producer of overpriced and lousy liquor.  He comes on the board and spits out profanity from every end and has nothing of substance to support his attacks.  Look folks, our former AD and his assistant were two dummies who almost destroyed the program.  Others here on gwhoops have described specific incidents of Jack lying. The hiring of close personal friend Tom Penders and the lining of his pockets out the door after he crippled the program and flirted with rule breaking (and maybe illegal) activity.  The complete lack of any marketing, the horrible scheduling, leaving games on the table, failure to capitalize on the success of an amazing season (which was 100% the result of Karl Hobbs), throwing the coach under the bus when they were both involved in the same recruiting decisions, wasting money on a bloated athletic department instead of improving the program, and the list goes on and on and on and on....  Any honest and rational person would be delighted Dom and Jack are gone and would pray they never again disgrace GW with any involvement in anything associated with it.  I hope their departure forever closes an ugly chapter in GW basketball.

 There is no sense debating whether you are an asshole or not LFO. Some things are so apparent a five-year old could grasp them. But I suppose in a world so divorced from reality like the one you live in there are no mirrors.

BF, you've got that right. Nobody would likely dare post the vicious and untrue things that LFO has posted about JK and DP unless they were under the influence of controlled substances or heavily intoxicated. Perhaps he can't find the roast beef because he drank all the rum.

With the exception of a few inbeciles, nobody seems to disagree wtih my accounting of Jack and Dom's miserable and disgusting performances.  Together they acted as a desructive force to bring our men's basketball program down.  While it was a disgrace they were permitted to wreak their havoc, thank goodness they are now history.  It's going to take years to rebuild the mess they leave behind.  Don't deny history, otherwise it will certainly repeat itself; in this case, I don't think anyone wants a repeat of what Jack and Dom did to GW, except those that want to witness failure again.  Let us all take a moment to pray that Jack Kvancz and Dom Perno never ever come back to Foggy Bottom.

I really felt no need to respond to you LFO because no matter how many people tell you you're just being oddly malicious by insinuating Jack and Dom were out to destroy GW basketball, you're not going to listen. I think the point from now on is let's avoid Yankee talk on a GW basketball board. I'd much rather discuss what our starting lineup might be this year, how deep will our rotation be and perhaps how many minutes I should expect certain guys to get. 

This guy (LFO) is really out there. He's nothing but an attention whore who posts ourtrageous lies and distortions plus cryptic messages to his buddy MV so somebody in this world will actually think he is important. I'm telling you that I had him pegged right from the start - mother's basement. No rational, sane individual (and certainly no one of the stature MV would have us all believe) would persist in this line of false and malicious attack.  And now, he so believes his own bullshit that he thinks everyone else does too.

I'm  not jumping into the whole JK Dom debate.  i don't know enough.  But here is what I do know.  If it weren't for such a "horrible schedule," that amazing season by GW might not have been quite as amazing.  I also know that the amazing season had a little bit to do with the players.....so not necessarily 100% the result of Karl Hobbs.

A few things: Class of '13, I don't believe that LFO is suggesting that JK and DP were "out to destroy GW basketball."  He undoubtedly believes that this was the outcome but nowhere have I seen him suggest that this was a purposeful goal.

To the alcohol-laden posters (Diageo and Brown Forman) as well as to other regulars in this camp, here is what I don't understand.  In the short time that a new regime has been in place, here is what we have witnessed: video interviews with new coaches and players, updates on former GW players, a severely upgraded OOC schedule, a basketball program that is regularly communicating with alumni, season ticket holders and fans, a head coach who is out there aggressively promoting the program, plenty of social media options, and I am sure there is more to come.  I believe we all have to agree that these attempts to create and build excitement over this program simply were missing under JK and DP. (I'll acknowledge that some attempts to improve in these areas began last season but how do you explain the 16 prior seasons?)

If you can get past the manner in which LFO is addressing JK and DP (suffice it to say he is outraged and it's showing) and focus solely on the message, I really don't see how you can argue with his point.  We've honestly seen more positive attempts to market this program this off-season than we have in the past 17 seasons combined.  JK and DP represent those past 17 seasons (I know, DP wasn't here for all of them).  

The only defense of JK and DP at this point is that either: a) you find them to be very nice people, which really does not speak to their job performance, b) you don't like the way in which LFO is addressing them (valid but it does not change the point), or c) both.  In the end, however, a better case could be made for LFO to tone it down a bit as opposed to drop the message.  You may not like how he's putting it, but what he is saying has merit.
