That's 11 games against our alotment (CBE counts as 1 game), and 27 total, including conference games.   Is the limit 12 these days or is that it? 

As an aside, I went to google the answer myself and came across this article I hadn't seen, saying that a couple of University of San Diego basketball players were indicted for fixing games, including Brandon Johnson, their all-time leading scorer.  Hadn't seen it.: Link

BM, it's actually only 11 or 12 OOC as defined by what counts towards your allowable allotment.  Bowie State clearly does not count.  The CBE is a multi-team event (MTE) which, when played at one site, counts as one game even though you may be playing up to 4.  Because this MTE will take place at two sites, it may count as two games towards the overall total.  However, what may supercede all of this is that I believe a maximum of 30 games may be played prior to a conference tournament.  Therefore, if the MTE does consist of 4 games, then we are at 30 without Howard, Tulane, etc.

When is the last time we had to do the math to worry about overscheduling  games, rather than leave some on the table? That's a diference right there.

 I believe the Howard series is over and the K State game replaced the Tulane one. We probably have one more lower level opponent that we just don't know about.

 I absolutely love the schedule. I just wish that the UAB game wasn't right in the middle of break. That's our marquee non-conference home game and we owe them some payback. Too bad the students will pretty much all be gone.

In response to this tweet: 'when should the fans expect to see the men's basketball schedule?', Nero also posted: 'The goal is Tuesday of next week, if not soon after.'

Not sure if this would be much earlier than in previous seasons, but it sure seems like it.  I've really been impressed with the way the athletic department as a whole has really made an effort to get info to the fans through differnet types of media lately.  I hope this continues and that it's supplemented with a weekly 'Mike Lonergan Show' on MASN or CSN.

Sure seems like a new era.

Did we reach single digit(s) on TV games  last year?

GW fan, this really isn't any earlier than in most prior seasons as in the past, we've even experienced the occasional August announcement of the schedule. Given the fact that an entire transition has taken place, I wouldn't have been unhappy if this dragged into October.  Also, it sounds like Nero successfully negotiated the tv package he alluded to a week or so ago.  Great stuff.

It seems earlier to me as well.  It may just be that we are not left almost entirely in the dark, though.  It's always been a "guess" as to when the schedule will be released, and who might be on it.  We already know most of the opponents--not because we know of home and homes and previous commitments--but because Lonergan announced several of the opponents on the radio and several other sources provided the information.  Instead of guessing when the schedule will come out, somebody has communicated the information to us--this just makes it feel sooner.

Not sure what is meant by the fans being very happy about the A-10 schedule.  We already know who we are playing.  So, what will make us happy?  Lots of Saturday afternoon home games (which makes me happy)?  Lots of TV games?  Changing the schedule so we play Fordham 16 times?  The return of Christopher as half time entertainment?

Had to laugh, Lev. My biggest and constant problem with the Nero era to date has been my inclination to refer to him as Peter rather than Patrick. I have definitely found it easier to refer to him as Nero (or PN in written form)  than suffer the embarassment of not getting his first name right. Good to know that even the long-time acquaintenances have a similar problem.

Lev, PN and ML seem to be making all the right moves. love your enthusiasm and i too am very encouraged. perhaps because i've followed the Colonials for 25 years longer than you i'll wait to get very excited until we see positive performance results. this is fantasy basketball and i like it but i'm waiting for the real season.

Excluding the Bowie state exhibition, you are at 30 regular season games without Howard or Tulane so I'd say that they are eliminated as well.

I count 28 games (exc. Bowie) as I believe the three-game CBE extravaganza in Ohio counts as only one game against the limit.

GWAA, the CBE is actually a 4 game MTE even though it's conducted at multiple sites.  However, the normal allottment for regular season games I believe is 27.  So the MTE counts as 1 which brings the total regular season games played up to 30 which I believe is the maximum number of games a team can play (prior to postseason and excluding exhibitions). 

Maximum games allowed are 31.
