I know I am going to get some shit for saying this but I have a difficult time when it comes to ignoring hypocrisy.  Herve's comments on this thread and reactions to these comments from BM and Levinator weren't radically different than those served up by LFO concerning JK and Dom.  LFO's words were more harsh while Herve's sentiments were masked in humor.  But the message was pretty similar...don't let the door hit you on the way out (due to subpar contributions in the opinions of LFO and Herve).

That said, I find it incredibly disingenuous for Diageo to not issue a post directed towards Herve after the repeated attempts he made to call out LFO and get him to apologize.  Maybe he's been busy and hasn't seen this thread yet...always a possibility.  Or maybe he finds LFO to be an easy target to attack but would prefer not to take this stance towards Herve.  Which if this were the case, would be pretty cowardly on Diageo's part.

I apologize to those of you who are tired of posts like this but I do feel that a double standard does exist here and is worth pointing out.  By the way, I thought Herve's posts were perfectly fine considering that he was obviously very disappointed with Bower's job performance.  The reality is that if the people who are hired to do these jobs were more productive, then this entire discussion wouldn't ever take place to begin with.  With all that being said, I would wish Brad, Jack and Dom well in any and all of their future endeavors.

You'll need to look a little harder MV. Unfortunately you see everything as back/white and no shades of grey in your search for hypocrisy. You proceed to start an argument in a thread that I am in no way involved in. But that is you - always looking for a fight. Nevertheless, you are wrong as usual.

More specifically, LFO all but labeled DP and JK as common criminals, calling them liars and cheats. The criticisms of Brad Bower did not come close to that low standard. Were they in poor taste? Absolutely. Should they have not been said? Of course. Were they of the caliber of LFO's comments? Not a chance.  One day hopefully you will realize that there is asubstantive difference between criticizing the job performance of someone and criticizing their character.

On a separate note, I will rightfully take my place among the probably dozens of other posters who have been called a "fraud" or worse here by MV over the years. To me, you really know things are ok when MV calls you a fraud.

Jack did lie, didn't he?  It was Jack who said that we couldn't get quality opponents to come to the Smith Center, wasn't it.  I think that qualifies as a lie; we're already seeing Nero prove it to be a lie.  Didn't Thinker report that Jack lied right to his face?  As a fan of the program, didn't a lot of us feel cheated by Jack and Dom's actions and inactions?  Personally, I think they were negligent. This is why I have no respect for either of them.  In my opinion, Bower was a total chair moistener and a perfect example of the wasteful way we spent money under the old regime; to me, wasting money like that is akin to stealing.  It's sort of the way many Americana feel when they see the government wasting their tax dollars.  I think Nero is already cleaning up a lot of the mess caused by Jack and Dom.  All you Jack and Dom defenders are, in my opinion, misguided, stupid or more interested in your own agenda than the good of the program.  Regardless, a new day has dawned and we seem to be on the right track with Nero hopefully rooting out waste.

I don't know LFO - you and MV seem to spend a lot of wasted time here, especially MV. Are you stealing from someone? Maybe a company, business, a client? Somebody is paying for your mental masturbation here and I'd bet they would be really pissed to find out what high class guy(s) you are on their dime. There is always one constant to virtually every conflict here - MV and LFO. In my business we call them the lowest common denominator with an emphasis on "lowest". Don't believe me? Agreed herve but the problem is DP, JK, BB, PN , ML, KH etc. etc. are not anonymous and they didn't volunteer to be libeled here (criticized yes (comes with the territory) but not libeled) - LFO's initial post was a flat out libel vs. DP and JK - and he is now backtracking ever so slightly with each post to "explain" what he meant without apologizing or retracting). On a less serious note, if Brad truly is guilty of doing nothing on his job I truly respect the guy.  I'd love to get paid to look busy and admire people who can get away with it.  I hope he can find a job with a better salary and better benefits where he has an office door, a computer screen that faces a wall, and a job description that is so vague even the person who wrote it doesn't know for sure what he's supposed to be doing.

As a former employee of the Athletic Department (1989-1998)...as a decent person, I am truly bothered by this entire line of "conversation."   To attack the job someone did (he did it well, or he did not), is one thing, but to mock and ridicule someone at a personal level is unacceptable.

You can criticize a coach for not having winning teams, or an administrator for poor leadership, or if you wanted to criticize my role there (which I hope you wouldn't), an event manager who creates an unsafe or unenjoyable event environment.

To criticize a person who you do not know at a personal evel, that says much more about the critic than the subject. 

I haven't spoken with Brad for years, maybe 10 years in fact.  But I know the kind of person he was when I worked in the Athletic Department.  He was, and I would believe still is, an outstanding person, someone who you can trust and who would not willingly hurt someone.  To me, that is all you need to know about someone.

I'm a long-time lurker and occasional poster on this Board, and I've seen this kind of pettiness for years and overlooked it...it's a more or less anonymous message board after all.  But things live on the internet forever, and I would hate for a future employer for Brad (or his family) google him and see some of the things written here.  I will say that Brad was incredibly hard-working when I was there and that he was always a team player.

Good points BGF.   I was reacting to what I feel was massive waste of resource and opportunity over the years by Jack and Dom. I think you and Dootie are correct.

ALL of my interactions with him were negative over the years. I also have plenty of second and third-party information (I know "that ain't data!") which casts a bad light on his performance. He was quietly demoted a few years back by the University as well. Now he's been let-go from GW and it was not a budgetary issue so it had to be based upon some criteria and one would assume "job performance" was part of the criteria.

Am I sorry to see him go? No. Do I want to keep him from getting a job? No. Do I want to keep him from anything at all? No. Do I have the power to keep him from anything? No. Am I the one who got rid of him at GW? No.

BGF makes good points and I'm glad he added to the discussion to provide a counter-balance. I hope other supporters of him use this as a forum as well because perhaps I had him all wrong. However, his resume reads well enough on paper that I'm certain another job opportunity will float by soon enough.

Herve, is there not a difference between "job performance" and "different direction" ?  If so, given a new regime and structure of the Athletic Department why would it not be fair to conclude based on reasonable inferences that he was let go for a change of direction and responsibilities that have nothing to do with his performance?  As to budget - how would you define: "now that your responsibilities will be x minus y, we no longer need a person of your skill level which is too high for x minus y, we can get those exact tasks performed for substantially less money by a younger person."  I think we can agree that communications at GW and GW sports has been pretty lacking the last decade.  We had to withstand some very bad body blows in the sports page, the front page, not being in the sports page, on tv, and on social media.  I have no idea if it was the SID's fault.  However, I have often viewed the SID as an access/filter person not a news placement specialist.  I tend to think that GW has always had a poor reputation in trying to get the message out and seemed happily dysfunctional because the dysfunction served somebody in the administrative tree.  I think he may have been guilty of being loyal.  I am sorry to hear that he hurt your feelings and that you heard that he had done the same to others you knew or heard about.  After reading your posts I am convinced he and his family need to get the bashing you richly think he deserves.

herve made his point straight up and folks followed up by twisting his point or suggesting that his feelings were hurt. I got bad news for you ladies, herve, happens to be one of the easiest persons that I have ever met with whom to get along and also work towards a goal. What's more, he even suggested that if you disagreed with him, make your point.

Let me suggest also that, in this time when millions of talented people are looking for work, I don't see the logic in keeping someone who might not be favored for their production. Maybe it isn't a good fit. Who knows and frankly, who cares. Everyone deserves a shot at a job.

I find it fascinating that I am about halfway through writing up player profiles on the upcoming team and there is hardly a mention about any of these posts that have everything to do with GW basketball.  And yet whenever the fighting breaks out, there are all too many of you who are willing to jump in.  Personally, that's fine with me.  But at the same time, let's stop making this out to be about MV and LFO dragging everyone into the mud with them.  If you deem threads like this one to be a bad thing, then all contributors are guilty.  Again, I don't have a problem with threads like this as they do bring out divergent points of view.  But if you have a problem with it, then you really should walk away and stop contributing to the melee.

If I am guilty of hijacking this thread (and I could care less whether I am or not), it was to prove a point.  Diageo has made it a point to harass LFO threatening to expose his real identity on this board.  Very, very uncool.  Then, Herve issues a post that was very much along the lines of what LFO did only using less harsh language.  Well, if Diageo had a problem with LFO's post, he should have had one with Herve's as well.  Herve, to his credit, indicated that he is not immune from criticism.  Diageo tries to teach me a lesson by differentiating between professional criticism and personal criticism.  Herve makes a make-up joke at BB's expense.  (a funnly line incidentally).  Yet once again, not a word of criticism out of Diageo towards Herve.  Diageo, was the make-up joke a professional criticism or a personal one?  I thought so.

Diageo continues to lose it in this thread by indicating that "somebody is paying" for my time spent on this site.  Wow, he probably knows my identity too.  Diageo, this is an anonymous message board.  You have no idea where I work, if I work, who my boss is or if I am the boss.  The frequency of my visits to this site are not about to be dictated by you and I could care less about your judgments on the subject.  On another note, I believe you have exaggerated the posters I have feuded with.  First of all, it's unfair to include you, Blue Seats and Seneca individually, if you know what I mean.  This serves to pad your numbers.  Beyond that, I've had differences of opinions in the past with Free Quebec, Poog, and Levinator but to refer to these as feuds is something I would argue.  (Yes, I'm happy to argue against who I've argued against)  I'll give you Bobo, Ziik, and Danj.  Last point for Diageo, I don't believe that LFO is guilty of making a libelous post or posts, simply a strongly worded one(s).  Since you have accused me of doing the same, I would challenge you to find a single instance where I am guilty of this accusation.  Like LFO, you may not like what I say or how I say it, but I have never once crossed the line you are insinuating.

Onto a few others: Danj, I can't possibly rehash this again for you.  How can you not see differences between naming replacements for a man who hasn't been fired yet and saying "good riddance" to individuals who underperformed?  You know what KH's positive accomplishments were.  More respect was warranted to KH based on these accomplishments.  Those who kicked him when he was down sounded like a whiny, ungrateful fan base.  You and others may see it otherwise but that's how it sounded to me.  Conversely, what were JK's accomplishments? No, DM, herve did not make his point straight up in his initial posts. He went for a non-argument personal ridicule of an individual.  I don't believe the responses to the way this thread started out was about the job Brad Bower did at GW. We all have our opinions of that - some based on personal experience, some based on inside knowledge of the reality of working at GW, some based on perceived public results or lack thereof, and who knows what other vantage points. Obviously some found it funny; others of us found it offensive. I don't know why herve had such personal probems with Brad...maybe it was simply that gwhoops is an avocation with the freedom to say or do what he wants while the school's official spokespeople have to serve many masters and purposes within defined resources. Others bringing Dom and Jack into this thread  was but another example of personal agendas frustrating so many who come here simply to read about and discuss GW sports, most particularly men's basketball. We are not idiots. We can read. We can think. And we can form our own opinions without being told whether those opinions are good, bad, justified, or stupid. Nobody told anybody that they had to like the job Brad Bower did because he was a good guy or a hard worker or a company man or a family man. But many of us just got tired of sitting back and trying to ignore what we consider unnecessary and mean-spirited comments directed his way.  And since many of us grew up watching Leave it to Beaver,  we can also read between the lines when Eddie Haskell passes along a comment or "objective" observation or invitation.

Deflection is the esence of MV. First of all, LFO has a track record of being nasty on this board. Herve does not. Second, you jumped on me before I even had a chance to comment and then bootstrapped that into pre-meditated silence of my part. Then, you try to deflect further by some alleged padding of numbers of folks who you've had disputes with and no I don't know what you mean. Are you saying that your disputes with certain folks don't count? Next, I was responding to LFO's point that wasting time (referring to certain GW administrators) is like stealing. Finally, and perhaps all too richly, you are concerned because an anonymous ziik implied or stated that an anonymous LFO had a drinking problem. Yet, at the same time its ok for an anonymous LFO to libel a not anonymous former employee of GW by calling them criminals. MV, I just have one question for you. Really?

 Poog-- I gather you have had a good relationship with BB, and I appreciate that. And you continue to be a voice of reason, even when all of us have become part of the mob. I also agree that too many of us take cheap shots here, too often. But I disagree that Herve's comment, which at least was humorous, in any way compares to the absolute, unadulterated hate that is incorporated into so much of what LFO and The MF have posted here, for several years now. I just think that threads like this are a great exhibit about what's been wrong with GW basketball.  There are probably 100 to 200 die-hard GW basketball fans tops and this small group is drowning in in-fighting, inuendos, personal conflicts, being obsessed with the past, rumor-mongering, and baseless and false accusations.

There just isn't that much talk on this board anymore about the future of GW basketball.  A couple of posters (NJ Colonial and GW Alumn Abroad come to mind) actually get engaged in threads that talk about ideas for building the program, putting our minds together to see if we can come up with ways to elevate the program, and what the future might look like with a new coach.  These threads may be boring and non-contraversial so they typically go nowhere.  But then threads like this get flamed up and are on track to hit 100 posts (only then to be re-capped by Levinator). 

Dom, Jack, Brad, SJT, Tom Penders and others are gone, in the rear view mirror - no more.  They are never coming back.  So why talk about them?  Let's talk about the present and the future.  How does next year's line-up look?  I think we have the potential to be a top 3 A-10 team next year.  Does anyone agree with me?  If not, why not?  That sounds like a good idea for a thread.  Maybe it's because I didn't personally know Jack or Dom or Brad, but I think I do speak for a silent majority here when I say the words "who cares?".  Now flame on...

LA Fan, I've written 5 or 6 player profiles that discuss pros and cons of returning players.  Please feel free to comment if you are inclined.

I just think that threads like this are a great exhibit about what's been wrong with GW basketball.  There are probably 100 to 200 die-hard GW basketball fans tops and this small group is drowning in in-fighting, inuendos, personal conflicts, being obsessed with the past, rumor-mongering, and baseless and false accusations.

MV, I haven't responded to your posts on the player profiles (except maybe Dan Guest), but I have read them all and think they are good write-ups.  So I hope there are some more coming.

MV, this thread is Brad Bower. you want to make a point start a new thread like......'JK & DP suck'. we'll see what type of response you get. maybe that makes too much sense. everybody is wrong except you and LFO, hmmm.

By the way Newtman, how many times have I said that JK and DP suck on this thread?  Maybe you can count them up for me and let me know.  This is about the 4th time on this thread alone where I've been accused (or where the accusation is implied) of something that I did not do. Anyone else want to line up?  I'll save you some trouble..

All kidding aside I don't know much more about Brad Bower than his name.  He could be the son Mother Theresa never knew she had or the guy that used to powder Bobby Bowden's nuts after August practices or just about anyone in between.  Having offered this caveat on my ignorance, if I were Brad Bower I would wait until this thread has been dormant for a couple of months (my over/under is 120 posts).  Then I'd print it out and have it tattooed on my back.

I am reading this thread backwards having missed most of  today's action but already very funny ... MV says he is tired of writing and out of here but comes back to post twice more within 90 minutes. But not to worry MV, I for one don't hold you responsible for the Earthquake, the Debt Crisis, or Hurricane Irene. I actually have some sympathy for you now with all these posters ganging up on you for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Don't let posters like Diageo/Seneca/Blue Seats, or any other belligerent excuse makers dissuade you from standing up for what you believe in and know to be accurate.  Just because a few of these drones (to the extent they are actually different posters) want to hide from reality, are inclined to distort the truth or just want to hold honest posters like us to a different standard, doesn't mean we should acquiesce to them.  Their perspectives are narrow and limiting and thus, provide an excellent contrast against which the truth can shine; it's our responsibility to the gwhoops community and to GWU to keep reality front and center.

I believe it's no coincedence that Nero and Lonergan have begun to immediately address the issues we've been writing about for many years.  Diageo/Seneca/Blue Seats have continued to tell us we were wrong, unfair, belliegerent, dishonest, etc. But, time has proven us to be correct.  So much so that almost every issue we've been writing about is now being addressed. Obviously, the best thing is that Jack and Dom are history!!!!!!  And now that they're out of the way, what's happened?  For starters, we've got the makings of some quality marketing.  We've gotten honest and frequent communication from the AD's office.  Nero seems to be cutting wasteful spending.  We've got a vastly improved OOC schedule.  The AD is trying to get more of our games televised.  And, we've got much more to be pleased about.

Posters like Seneca/Blue Seats, Poog and Ziik who have defended Jack and Dom all these years have been proven horribly wrong.  (Were Jack and Dom nice guys?  Who gives a shit???? Did they do a good job????  Did they do a horrible job???? Exactly.)  The arrogance of posters like these shows no limitation. Regardless, the truth marches on and a new day has dawned.  In many way, I think we have you to thank for this.

MV, in my opinion, you are the best, most thought provoking, articulate, candid and knowledgeable poster on this board.  I value every word you type.  Thank you for holding the line on the truth.  I believe you are an agent for change, a voice of reason.  With the exception of a few posters who I know wouldn't want to participate, on behalf of the entire gwhoops community, thank you for everything you've done.  We express our appreciation in advance for all that you will do as we move into, what we all hope will be, a golden era for GW basketball.

After reading that LFO all I have to say is - have you been spending time with Diageo tonight? No not the poster but the brand. Carry on...can't wait for Diageo's response. No not the brand but the poster.

Brad was at the AD long before JK, I remember when he arrived on campus and he would commute from the Baltimore suburbs to DC to work at a job paying something south of minimum wage. He saw the program rise to Sweet 16/sold-out Smith Center levels, and then fall in to the sewer TP sank it in to. I don't know why he was unresponsive in Herve's eyes or why the university was slow to embrace the Internet for promotion.In any case, I thank Brad for his service to GW and wish him the best in the future.

And why has no one here blasted BGF for not getting an act better than the B-52's to play the Smith Center? Geesh, what kind of knee-jerkers are you all?
