Any word on how the first few days of  basketball practice have gone?

Not for nothing but I doubt anybody who knows anything will post relevant info on this board anymore. Not with the person who runs the site posting IP addresses. That's unheard of.

I doubt that anyone could be "discovered" as having "leaked" something from an IP address.  People tend to not post the most sensitive inside stuff anyway because they might get discovered based on the information in the post itself.  I really doubt the coachng staff or the university is going to track things and search people's ip addresses to figure out who told the world that "X" player got caught with a prostitute in his room or whatever.

The IP address thing is the result of a long term question on this board of people possibly posting things under different names.  It has been alleged at different times, that in fact, some posters have argued with themselves - posing as different people arguing different points.  That's what this is all about - are people poting under different names?  The only way you show up on the list is if different names are being used on the same IP address.

As a former member of WRGW and more importantly a 2 yr color commentator for WFED with Byron a few years ago, I must admit I am a bit saddened to see that the college kids won't get the opportunity to work on the professional broadcasts anymore. I know I speak for many that calling Colonials games were without question the highlight of my time in Foggy Bottom. That said I look forward to hearing the new broadcast duo.

In any case, really great to have Yegor back again. And with the participation of Chris Monroe, Mike Hall and Pops in the Colonial Invasion, it is clear that someone is realizing that we need to reach out to our great names in the past in order to build upon the future.

How can you suffer so much when you've had an illustrious european carreer, write a blog about the trevails of life as an overseas player, and your wife/partner is that attractive?

I can understand mistaking me for Yegor.  We are both White.  We both love GW basketball.  We weigh about the same.  We can both shoot the ball and play little defense.  Maybe I am Yegor.

Not to counter your contention, LSF, but from my observations, Yegor M seems to distribute his weight differently over his body than you do.

Getting back to hoops here, has ML maintained KH's policy of closing practice to students and others?

AS a recent graduate of GW and 4 year member of WRGW, it is sad that the students won' be doing color with Byron. I do however look forward to the new announcing duo.

I agree it is sad that a GW student will no longer be doing color.  However, 2 things here.  1) There may not have been a student that wanted to do GW basketball with Byron; 2) Adding a more "professional" feel, while maintaining a colonial connection is a good thing.  It's not "we're just going to have a kid do colonial color commentary and save a buck"--it's "we are taking this broadcase seriously."

There is WRGW for students to do their broadcasting.

It may be sad for some of you but chances are that this was one of those things that was brought to PN's attention and his response may have been along the lines of "Really?  Students doing color on a professional radio station?  Let's quickly put an end to this."  There is no doubt that having Yegor serve as an analyst will result in a more professional broadcast, another PN upgrade.  I wonder if Jack even knew that students were on the air with Byron Kerr. (Not an attack, I really am wondering.) 

Or maybe it is an attempt to reconnect Jaris era fans who may have left (I have run across many) with the program.

Word is that Yegor is only doing color at the home games. 3 students will travel to away games. 2 for WRGW and 1 for color with Byron.

 Just curious MV, how many WFED broadcasts do you listen to? I've always pegged you down as a channelsurfing guy.

Class of '13, I've heard the broadcasts from time to time...not too often.  I'm not sure my opinion would change if I had heard every game on the radio or none of them. 

Since class of '13 brought it up, channelsurfing is now channelsurfing.ws. Not sure if anyone had posted that before, but I just found it.

And in case anyone's wondering, I just checked Wikipedia and found that .ws is the country code for Samoa.

Actually Lev, Samoa's big rugby moment this year was in July when they won at Australia. Tonga (which beat finalist France in the group stage) was the team that played above its level in the World Cup. Now back to hoops...

France plays New Zealand in the Final on Sunday. The All Blacks kicked France's butt in the group stage, too. Game time is 4am Eastern, the Haka will be about 5 mins before kickoff.
