Episcopal, Landon, Sidwell.  GW's local recruiting has come a long way academically from my days as an undergrad when Howard "Mean Man" Matthews out of McKinley Tech was the great area pickup.

Same team as ex-KH target Jamal Lewis.  Compiled some gaudy stats in a league of midgets, but apparently is a strong athlete and is being pursued by a lot of high-majors.  Apparently attends all the GU home games and at one point was a lock for them, but his list has exploded recently.  Surprised to see GW enter the game late in the process.

 Would be awesome but no shot at him. 

I see him meshing with the likes of Mcsavage, Larsen (if he attends) et al far better than the type of boys they recruit at Gtown. At the very least, I'm very happy to see Lony be aggresive on the recruting trail.

Food for thought: Last season, we started a good percentage of our plays with TT at the top of the key with the ball. THen, after turning the O over a couple of times, he would try to get to the elbow and find a shot. That's lots of work for your ballhandler and the guy who was often defending the ball on the other end. During the season upcoming, we have a point forward who can easily start the same offense. There will be improvements in the GW offense that most of you don't appreciate are coming. What's more, a guy like Hart, working with a point forward with a 3 and an aggressive and good ballhandling guard becomes a huge asset rather than a liability.

As Hooper 1 said above, Lonergan is slotting in players smartly--with complimenting skill sets.

If you doubt Hart, then you won't believe Jenkins, I guess.

 I should never say never but the main difference between Jenkins and Hart is we would have to beat out Xavier for Jenkins or go head to head with Gtown and Villanova to land Hart. If you think this program, coming off a 10 win season, is ready to do that than I admire your optimism. We've also been heavily recruiting Jenkins for significantly longer and his game, no matter how good he has been, is really more suited for high mid-major than high major. 

DEA, you may be right on all counts but there is nothing to be lost by offering. Josh Hart tweeted he could go to school with his bro Joe22. GW is undergoing a huge makeover. maybe Hart likes what he sees following next season's new style of play and vast improvement and wants to play alongside his friends. stranger things have happened.

DEA, I agreed with you that GW had no shot until Herve posted tweets from Josh Hart that indicated he is close with Joe McDonald. If J.McDonald has a very good freshman year, he may be able to convince J.Hart to choose GW over the high-major schools who will offer him. The fact that J.Hart has attended a reputable academic school like Sidwell Friends for the past 2 or 3 years may show that he cares more about education than the average 4 or 5 star/top 100 recruit who is only focused on the "bright lights" that a high major school can offer him.

DEA, both correct contentions, but and I mean BUT, these guys are really recruiting well and kids do get into something new. We have a lot to sell at GW. BTW, what all these kids understand is the value of an education. We also have enough recruits who have signed to start to make a case. I am guessing that Kethan Savage is a leader by the way he is working his buddies. Then, you have McDonald doing the same thing.

He's a 4 star and #83 ranked player for Rivals as well.

Between scoring SGs Corban Collins, Jon Severe, Josh Hart, Deshaun Morman, Roddy Peters and Nick Griffin, I'm sure we'll score at least one, maybe two.  All but Griffin have high-major offers.

Sorry, but no chance on this kid guys. He's going to be a high-major kid. Even if he had a predisposition to high-level academics, he's going to have high major options that provide that too (Georgetown, UVA has seen him, Villanova's offered, etc.). Much more interest and better offers than Savage or McDonald had. Also, I wouldn't play up the McDonald-Hart connection.

There are obviously many different factors that influence a recruit’s decision on which college to attend so I would discount GW versus a BCS school solely on that criteria.  I think most recruits want to end up at a good program (or one that’s heading in that direction), but I think that one of the main factors has got to be what that player’s realistic expectation is to have a primary role on the court and the success of the team.  There are plenty of top 100 recruits that don’t end up at BCS schools because they know they’re going to have the opportunity to start  and play a major role on the team from day 1, versus waiting behind someone for the opportunity to start, with no guarantee that you won’t get recruited over the following year.  There plenty of mid-major players in the NBA that may have never had the opportunity to get noticed had they decided to go to a Kentucky, Florida, or other BCS school.  One thing to keep in mind when analyzing a recruits school choices is who is in front of them (or behind them) that’s going to prevent them from starting.  Here’s an interesting site (although not up to date for many schools) that shows the depth by position by year at each school.

Looking at verbalcommits.com, any word on Jordan Fuchs, who've we apparently offered? All I can find is that he's a 2013 6-6 forward with interest all across the board (high and mid-majors).

Says ($) he'll visit GW in the future.  Also says he wants to play in the ACC or BE, but then says conference doesn't matter if the fit is good.  I'd still put him in the <10% chance bucket with Corban Collins, Stan Robinson, Rene Castro etc.

Not sure that prior-season wins is at all even a minor factor for recruits, DEA. More about future direction, facilities, ability to fashion a pro career, and, for many, academics.

 Prior wins are certainly a factor. When you consider how our facilities and NBA contacts compare with the other schools we're competing with, it looks even worse. I'm not trying to be overly negative here because this staff has undoubtedly proven they can recruit, but you need to be realistic. Like  I said, there's more of a chance with Jenkins because we've been recruiting him longer and there are more question marks aabout him

DMVElite interview.  No GW mention.

Well this interview was probably after the DMVElite one.  Gtown has since picked up a wing for 2013 and are currently out of scholarships.  He mentions the upcoming unofficial to GW.

  “The schools that are recruiting me the hardest are Georgetown, North Carolina State, San Diego State [and]George Washington,” said Hart.

He's apparently on campus today.

 He actually retweeted two messages that said he's on campus.. Plus Joe McDonald tweeted it.

It at least seems like he cares enough to post it and its nice to see Joe working it for GW.

G'town doesn't have any spots available.  He's probably waiting to see if something comes up.  Appparently goes to lots of home games.

The link that Florida Colonial posted says that Georgetown has offered Josh Hart. I'm guessing Georgetown no longer considers him a top recruiting target and recruited over him. If they are still serious about J.Hart and have no room for him, they can just get one of their players to transfer after next season to make room. They also have an underclassman who could be a 1st round pick and leave for the NBA after next season.

Granted they were playing against a very young public school team last night (Churchill) who I am told boasts one rising senior and a bunch of rising juniors and sophomores with no varsity experience (however they only lost to Jenkins and Gonzaga by 10 a week or so ago so they are not terrible), but last night Josh Hart went for north of 40 in a ROCK League summer game including multiple dunks in which his team (Sidwell) won by 9. He put on a show.

But he seems like a fine young man who would want to stay close to home and family, while still enjoying the college experience at a good academic school.

A nugget to be learned from this article is that GW was one of the more "creative" schools in taking advantage of the unlimited contact rule.  What a rule like this implies is that coaching staffs better know how to read the desires of their prospects.  Some kids might like to be called 6 times a day while others would go crazy with this.  The use of the word creative says that GW is successfully getting through to Josh in a manner which he seems to apprecaite.  We may or may not land this player but hats off to the coaching staff who genuinely appear to be a cut above many others in the recruiting wars.

Is there any chance that Josh Hart would feel slighted by Georgetown because they offered their last remaining scholarship to a similar player who is considered a better prospect? I wrote before that Georgetown could easily open up a scholarship for him, but it would probably take months for that to happen, I don't think Georgetown would run off a player at this point. What if J.Hart wanted to commit to a school before his senior year started, will he be allowed to accept Georgetown's offer?

Your line of thinking Thomas is getting closer and closer to GW's reality. We'll wait and see. Certainly those who dismissed this recruit at the beginning should be thinking more like Thomas.

FQ, I would feel disrespected, but all the links being posted about Josh Hart's recruitment seem to indicate that he has no problem Georgetown recruiting over him. Every time J.Hart is interviewed, he mentions Georgetown as one of his schools. Maybe that will change at some point.

NC State may end up recruiting over Josh Hart also, their somewhat new(Gottfried was hired last year) coaching staff already signed one of the nation's best recruiting classes for the upcoming season and will probably continue to do so in the future. If J.Hart goes to N.C.State, he'll initially end up playing second fiddle to one or more McDonalds All-American/ 5-star players that they may sign.

The high-major schools that GW should be really concerned about are Depaul, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Cincinnati because most of their recruits are in the 50-150 range, so a guy like Josh Hart will be a top recruiting target. They don't have the luxury to recruit over him. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of GW's 2012 recruits are rated ahead of a couple guys who have signed with  those schools.

Add Memphis to the list.
