If you follow Mike Hall's twitter you will know that he openly cheers for Brazil over the US in Soccer. I will never understand that. I can understand how natives of other countries still cheer for their homeland, but I dont understand cheering for Brazil when you have no connection.  I realize this is off topic, but it actually really bothers me. I'm sure I'll catch lots of slack for this post so let me have it. LOL

How old are you, FC? Have you heard this is a free country?

MH can cheer for Brazil for any reason he wants, or for no reason at all. It's not like he's cheering for Nazi Germany, Franco's Spain, or King Zog, you know.

I've cheered for Stetson, the GWU of Florida, myself, on the few occasions that I drink heavily, and there's nothing better to do. And, how do you know mike has no Brazilian connection?

I'm drinking heavily right now, which is the only reason I'm posting, I played high school soccer, among other sports, and it was great fun. But I've never had enough liquor in me to give a shit about watching a soccer game, or caring who wins it. Heck, I'd take table tennis over soccer, 5 days out of 7. (That's the rum talking.)

I follow his Twitter also. Guy is hilarious. He and Pops go at it heavily.

I remember one day when the Bears were playing the Vikings on Sunday Night Football.  Pops and Mike were in the Hippodrome and Pops was just at Mike's throat taunting him every time Minnesota got a first down.  It was absolutely hilarious.

Obviously, Mike Hall is history's greatest monster. ;-) 

 so in NASCAR does he have to cheer only for teams that have US cars?

 Not the same thing.. even close.. In any case he has the right to cheer for another country and I have the right to not like it. 

Rooting for Brazil in soccer - even against the US is fairly close to a Brazilian rooting for the Olympic basketball Dream Team in Barcelona even when they played Brazil.

And FC you can feel anything you want, but seriously can't you find something more significant to dislike than that?

So what that Hall roots for Brazil vs USA? Last year he tweeted he was pulling for Xavier over GW because they were a more exciting team.  That's his right.  Nothing wrong with being a front runner - we all know the type.

Oh shit! If you're dissing MH3 I'm afraid we're going to have a serious problem here.

 Don't get me wrong, I'm still a fan of Mike Hall. He was a great representative of GW hoops during his 4 years. BTW I'm pretty sure it would be hard to find a Brazilian cheering for the dream team over Brazil. I guess the difference is that in most other countries cheering for your national team is just part of the culture, whether it be soccer, rugby, cricket, basketball or whatever other sport. In the US we are much more centered on our professional franchises or college teams. I think that comes from the fact that our major professional sports such as football, baseball and basketball are not competed on a national team basis at all or on a minor level compared to soccer, rugby etc.

 Btw thinker this is not a " significant dislike", its just something I find hard to understand and happened to bother me.  Either way we all agree about our passion for the Colonials.
