Heard from my referee buddy that that Kenner League will be beginning around June 28th this year.    I have no other information at this time.  As always, i will put in a plug for the Kenner League for those newbies that it is a "must see" for any fan who is die hard enough to be checking a GW message board in June.  Shoud  be able to get a sneak peak of most, if not all of the players, including the freshmen.   May even get an occasional NBAer on the Court.   I believe last year the entire GW team played on one team or another.  In addition, the players, who are sitting in the bleachers when they are not playing, are very approachable.    As further incentive to get GW support at the game, if you mention "Long Suffering Fan" at the gate, you will get in for free.

Where are the games played?

Games are typically Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays.  Weekend games start around 1 and they may play up to 6 games in a given day.  22 minute running clock halves with the clock stopped on fouls during the last few minutes or really based on the mood of the clock operator.  No game programs and it's helpful to recognize players as the public address announcer may or may not announce players who score or commit fouls.

It is quite interesting, though not necessarily x's and o's basketball.

You do have to go through the gates of Hell and into the epicenter of all evil to attend, but that can't be helped.

There is always uncertainty with the Kenner League schedule, teams and players, but I'd guess that the incoming freshman and 2 returning players will play on Curtis Symmonds Hoop Magic/Symmonds All-Stars team, so its possible you will see 5 GW players on the court together whenever they play. Also, Lasan Kromah will play for Team Takeover, he has played with them for the last 2 or 3 summers. As LSF pointed out, everyone/just about everyone from GW participated in the Kenner League last year(they may have all played in 2010 also) so I'd expect them all to play again this year on different teams.  

Thomas, looking forward to Kenner League update from you, LSF and MV.  i would think the local guys will play and hope others will too. let's hope we get some positive feedback that the recruits are as good as we think. anyone know the latest on Garino and expectation of him playing in Italy?

I know some of you follow the league and our players in it, and if there are games where our incoming guys are playing I would like to know and go to a few. See them in action before they get here. 

GW 14 this board is pretty good at getting that information out.  The problem is that the Kenner League has not been as good as communicating schedules, rosters, updates etc., as it was in the 90's and early 2000's.  Sometimes I have resorted to other's tweets, DC Metro Sports dot com, AAU websites, i95ballerz.com etc.  good luck! 

 Actually, the schedule is generall released and is relible.  It is finding out information in advance, as well as the rosters and identifying the players on the court that is the madening part.

LSF, did your referee buddy tell you why they are starting the Kenner League on a Thursday? Are they going to have a lot of weeknight games? Most times they start play on a Saturday.

Joe McDonald also tweeted that he'll be playing for Hoop Magic, so it;'s probably safe to say that all the newcomers(including Isaiah Armwood) will join him on that team. Depending on what 2 returning GW players play for Hoop Magic, you could see 5 players on the court together who end up as starters next year. From what I've read on here, it looks like some of you expect I.Armwood and a couple of freshman to start next year.

I didn't ask.  He probably would not know...they don't tell him much either other than when he is working.

Kenner usually runs through early August.  The kids will then immediately start practicing for the Italy trip and be off August 15th.  Won't be surprised if we peter out towards the end of the season.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the start date for Kenner is July 6 and not June 28 as first thought.  The championship game is August 12 raising the possibility of GW players missing the playoffs entirely (August 9-12) if they are to leave for Italy on August 15.  Or, perhaps the more ball they play, the better!

I wonder why Kenner is always held at that dump, old McDonough Gym.  GW should host it at Smith Center!

Disagree on this one, NJ Colonial.  Smith Center is an arena, albeit a small arena.  McDonough is a gym.  An event like the Kenner needs to be held at a gym, where everything is informal and everyone there has easy access to everyone else.

While good points, LSF, hope that still doesn't mean that you don't hate the place and the unmitigated evil for which it stands.
