They join UConn. PLayer advancement or lack there of. You figure, if you are going to do that poorly on the court, you would at least have that covered.

The Towson penalty is based upon actions before the current coach and athletic department leadership came on board.  Considering how low Towson had sunk on the court, this year is a useful one to help the team rebuild without having to worry about rankings and tournaments.  It is certainly not as bad as the similar penalty at perennial title contender, UConn which is expected to lose far more money than Towson could ever dream of..

Another season where KH will not go to the NCAA's. (Yes, that was a cheap shot, but when your "university" gets banned because of bad grades you are open to cheap shots).

Yes GWAA, despite the fact that this penalty is a result of academic progress between 2007-08 and 2010-11, before he ever arrived at UCONN,  I'm sure we can all be reasonably certain that this too is KH's fault.  And speaking of KH, he has been formally named an Assistant Coach which means he'll be able to recruit (something that he was not permitted to do as Director of Basketball Operations last season).

I feel bad for all those kids who transferred into Towson to be eligible this year.  I would guess they were convinced that Towson was getting a huge influx of talented BCS guys and other top mid & low major players, so they'd be competing for post-season right away.

 They'll now have the option to transfer again.
