Wright is not a great shooter, but shoots well enough to keep defenses honest and is a surprisingly effective scorer/creator off the dribble.

Had an interesting conversation this weekend at the NHSI finals.  I'll whole-heartedly concur with Herve on this one.  BTW, anyone else at that Montverde-St. Benedict final (or witnessed it on tv)?  One of the most exciting finishes to a game that I can recall seeing.

Do you think the coaching staff will hold off on offering Marquis Wright right now(even though they could have him) because they are holding out hope that Nigel Johnson will still sign? Despite everything that has gone on since he de-committed, I don't think he completely ruled out GW, did he?

The MV, the NHSI seems to have their championship games(and semifinals) end in an exciting finish every year. I know off-court politics won't allow it to happen, but it would nice to have more local teams(not just Montrose) participating in this event. Paul VI beat 2 or 3 of those national powerhouse teams during the season.

Unless he already told Patsos he's not coming to Siena, I have a hard time seeing Lonergan steal one from his best friend in coaching.

From what I recall of the article about Loyola releasing Marquis Wright and the other recruit from their LOI's, it didn't seem as if M.Wright wanted to follow Jimmy Patsos to Sienna. Don't hold me to that though, I didn't feel like finding that article before writing this!!!! But seriously, M.Wright may be someone who wants to play somewhere in which his family can come to all of his games. If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me if J.Patsos told M.Wright to play for his coaching buddy Mike Lonergan.

Hard to see that Nigel Johnson door opening at GW, Thomas. Your Patsos Wright scenario, however, makes some degree of sense without knowing anything about Wright's standing or GW's initial or current interest in him. Beyond that, as panicky as we all are, I seriously doubt there is any external pressure on ML to bring in any recruit who might not be desirable for the program beyond GW's immediate roster needs next year.

 Well ML had no problem taking Kopriva from Becker when he left Vermont so there's at least a precedent.

That said, we need the kid and if he wants to stay local and the coaches think he is good enough then his friend will understand.  

I found the article about Loyola releasing Marquise Wright from his LOI and his father said "we are waiting it out, we want to talk to everybody before making a decision either way." That seems to indicate that M.Wright and his family would be open to anything, including other schools like GW. I believe that M.Wright signed/committed to Loyola at an early stage of the recruiting process(spring of JR year/fall of SR year) so there was never an opportunity for other schools to come after him during a SR year in which he played very well. It would've been interesting to see what level of interest he would've gotten had he not signed with Loyola before playing his SR year.

Would GW have any interest in 6-9 forward Mike Wolfe, the other player Loyola released from a LOI? His father mentioned that they have taken calls from Duquesne and Wagner. I've posted the article down below

Correction on my last post. Mike Wolfe never signed with Loyola, he de-committed last month. Lavon Long is the one who signed and then was released from his LOI

The way I read this, he's visiting Siena and will decide whether to follow Patsos or not later this week.  If he doesn't go to Siena, he'll widen his search.

Seems inclined to stay with Patsos.

The Washington Post article about Marquis Wright and Lavon Long following Jimmy Patsos to Sienna mentioned that McNamara guard Stephan Jiggets has asked out of his LOI to Sienna. An interesting side note is S.Jiggets and M.Wright are close friends, but did not want to be in a situation in which they competed against each other for the same position. The article said that S.Jiggets has yet to formulate a list of schools. I believe he signed or committed to Sienna before his SR year started, so it may be hard to determine what level of schools would be interested in him at this time. He seems to have a similar game to Kethan Savage, a guard who can slash to the basket and hit 3's.
