From Rivals: George Opens Up Recruiting By: Russ Blake Date: January 17, 2003 Reggie George , a developing 6-9, 210 pound power forward from Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass., has decided to reopen his recruiting this winter. Last month, George committed to Iowa State. He had visited both Iowa State and George Washington in the fall, but waited until after the early signing period to orally commit to the Cyclones. "At the request of his mother, he called Iowa State and told them that he is opening it back up," Barton said. "He is going to take calls -- I wouldn't say that he's wide open but he's open enough." George has three official visits left should he opt to take all of them. Barton said that George may take a visit to St. Joseph's in the not too distant future. "Iowa State definitely still wants Reggie, [Cyclone Asst. Coach] Wayne Morgan made that clear," Barton said. "They can't visit him again, and their contact with him will be limited [per NCAA regulations], but they want to check in once a week and they would definitely like to sign him in the spring." George has had an up and down year so far at Notre Dame. He's mobile and athletic for a big guy, but he's not an overly skilled threat in the low post. He tends to look good when games get fast and loose, as he can beat many other big men down the floor on the break. "He has been struggling lately for us," Barton said. "He has some good games and some bad games." George attended high school in the Chicago area prior to enrolling at Notre Dame Prep this fall. He already has a qualifying test score and is working on boosting his core grades at Notre Dame. Rivalshoops.com plans on catching Notre Dame Prep in action several more times this winter, so we will keep you posted on George's play and recruitment.

see "GW is everybody's # 2" post, below. if George has the body, maybe he can redshirt along with Kireev and learn the skills (net year). heck, ROCK can handle the center's job net year, so long as Tamal is ready to bang alongside him. i had a nice, long talk with ziik, jr. last night. slim (at 6'6", 165), he resembles a young Keanu, ecept with a 3 digit IQ. his issues are similar to George's: he's got a momma. i am guessing she (George's momma) wants her son to go to GWU, where he will have a pal (MIKE HALL) and a caring coach. that IOWA coach is a BobKnight clone.
