Fairfield will be a good test for GW. They haven't played since Dec. 9 and are 4-1, with a win over St. John's and a loss to Fordham. Mostly NY area kids. Good coach (O'Toole was an assistant at Duke and Syracuse). Probably won't be many at the game with winter break, etc. Somebody earlier said they play in downtown Bridgeport and not on their ultra prepped-out campus. Nice homecoming for Hobbs.

We are basically a defensive team, and are led by Deng Gai (6-9) who is the leading shot blocker in the country and has been in the top 5 in blocks the previous 2 seasons. He not only blocks shots but alters many others. Gai is the cousin of Loul Deng and Ajou Deng. Our other big guy also starts, 6-10 Rob Thomson. He is also a very good defensive player, relying more on position defense, but he can also block a lot of shots, about 130 for his career. Both Gai and Thomson both average 14ppg, but I would not say they are accomplish offensive players. Our point guard, Terrance Todd, also averages 14ppg. He makes our team click, and for a sophomore has great poise. He is quick, and strong. We have Shooting Guards by committee, with 3ppg being the top point man in the group..... if you can beleive that. What they do have in common is that they all play tough defense, especially 5-3 Tyquan Goode who gets the most minutes, but he is shooting only 7% from the field. As you can see, we are a very unusual offensive team with a 2G averaging 3ppg. Our SF/3G are two athletic sophomores, Dewitt Mawell (6-5), and Michael Bell (6-4). both can be epolsive at times. They sound similar to your pair of frosh Pinnock and Lucas. This is a big game for Fairfield as playing an A-10 team always is. However, it will be like a nuetral court game as Students are away, its a 5PM game, and its 2 days before Christmas. We play all our games in the Harbor Yards Arena in Bridgeport, which is beautiful and holds 10K. However our attendance is very sporadic as we can get 5-7K for big games vs BC, St John's and Manhattan, but could get only 1.5-2K for others. Joe, may want to make one correction to your write-up, GW is 6-3 not 6-4. Or perhaps you are assuming a win for your guys? That was nice win over the Jonnies, us GW fans have reason to be nervous.

Nice to see a post about this game finally pop up. Just wondering how many Gdubers are making the trip up to CT. I know I will be there with 3 or 4 other GW fans. If your in the NY/Boston Metro area I encourage you all to come out and support the guys. With the holiday break I hardly epect a large turnout and with some friendly fans in the seats, it may be just what we need to get us a "W" and back on track for the upcoming stretch.
