Well, this will be very interesting:  Jontay Porter, the No. 10 player in the Class of 2018 and the younger brother of Michael Porter Jr., the top-ranked freshman in the country, told ESPN he will reclassify and join his brother and his father at Missouri this season.

"This is going to be a special year for Mizzou basketball, and I couldn't pass up on this opportunity to be a part of it," Jontay Porter told ESPN on Wednesday. "Playing with Michael was definitely one of the most attractive things about reclassifying. Every team we've played on together has had major success, so hopefully that trend continues."

There is a little more than a year in age difference between the pair. Michael Porter Jr. is a skilled 6-foot-10, 215-pound forward who is projected as the top overall pick in next year's NBA draft. Jontay, the 6-foot-11, 240-pound younger brother, is a terrific passer and will help bolster the Tigers' frontcourt.

Looks as if I may have to start paying a bit more attention to the school I atttended in my freshman year beforte transferring back home to GW.

ELJ, your first College figures to be extremely fun to watch this year, and maybe very good.  They were awful last season but they return the 3 top scorers AND add the two exceptional Porters bros, and 2 other tops 100 recruits.  Would be nice to see them, say, beat Kentucky at home.

Has to also be the first time in history that two brothers, non twins, have ever entered the same college in the same class in the same year.

I don't know why I get the heebie-jeebies from them. Not saying they did anything wrong, I just have apprehensions for some odd reason.

Ever since Missouri recruited ELJ to run track, back in 1929, the school has been in academic trouble.

(They gave ELJ a life time membership in The National Geographic Society, and a Good Humor franchise, to get him to sign up to run the 100 yard and 110 meters, and the low hurdles, up to 220 yards.  ELJ set records that stood in the Big 8 until John Riggins showed up. ELJ gave up his seat for Jesse Owen at the Olympics, only partly because he had gained 3 pounds from fudgesicles, and was concerned about the Good Humor shamateurism issue. Quite a guy.)

I know the Porter brothers situation was brought up in a thread a couple months back, here's a quick recap off the top of my head(I may have some of the details wrong), Michael Porter committed to Washington during his SR year last season, Washington fired its coach Lorenzo Romar, they hired Cuonzo Martin from CAL, Martin then immediately hired Porter's father to his staff, shockingly(HA!) Porter signs with Missouri a short time later, we then hear rumors that Porter's talented younger brother will reclassify to the class of 2017 to play with his brother, those rumors have now become a reality.

Notta Hater, the Porter brothers signing with Missouri contains all the sleezy aspects of recruiting, your heebie-jeebies are totally justified!!

Will Michael Porter Jr. have a Carmelo Anthony or Ben Simmons type of impact on Missouri in 2017-2018??

ELJ when were you at Mizzou.  I too transferred to GW, but went back for PhD.  Worked for basketball program for five years.  I love both places.

GRB: Apologies.  Just saw your 8/11/17 post and the question to me.  Anyway, I was at Mizzou way back in 1951-52.  Ran freshman track (the mile and the deuce).  Most vivid memory was finishing way the hell back of Mizzou senior Bill Maguire, who had won the outdoor NCAA mile the previous year.  But Maguire was only second that day, running a 4:10 to freshman Wes Santee's 4:02.5.

Santee ran with short, choppy strrides that made me think he would "die" by the third lap, but the guy just kept on keeping on, and pulled away at the start of the gun lap.

Oh, and my time?  A pedestrian 4:37.7.  Gotta admit: my best memories were of the girls at Stephens College, which was an all-girls school at the time.

Oops, should've added that Santee ran for Kansas, as Herve undoubtedly knew.
