George Washington lands Anthony Swan from Virginia Episcopal, a 6-foot-7 wing shooter with Boo Williams - source told CBSSports.

Jeff Goodman of CBS reporting that GW has landed Anthony Swan.

 Does that mean he will be on campus in the fall of 2013?

Fantastic.  I thought he'd be one of those kids who blows up right in front of our eyes.  Shot very nicely from the outside in EYBL play.

 6-7 shooter from wing, sounds good to me.  Just what the doctor ordered.  Now just need to find out when he will be arriving to play 2013 or 2014?

Class of 2014.  That means he'll start at GW the season after this next one. 

 Darn, wish he was coming sooner.  Still glad he's verballed to GW.  

I hope he doesn't blow up too much next year and decommits...

Upon further review, it looks llike I was cherry picking his best games.  In the latest EYBL session, he scored 32 points with 18 boards on 6-12 shooting from deep in 26 minutes over two games...  He also failed to reach double digits over ther other 11 games.

His overall averages over 13 games:  13 min/g, 5.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 32% 3FG

Fantastic recent interview here.  Not sure if you can see it w/o Rivals subscription.  Has family member on GW staff.  Interest from VTech, Miami, UVA.

I had a couple of errors in the stats, but you get the point.  Correct numbers here.

At least Anthony Swann already has interest from high-majors, so its not a case where he's giving a verbal because GW is the highest profile school that is showing interest like that other guy who went to Riverdale Baptist!! LOL

 I heard that Kansas St. is now looking at him.  

 According to the video below, he has a family member on the GW staff. Maybe Hajj Turner (also from Va), although I think Sutton is also a Va guy.

 Kethan's Episcopal is in Alexandria.  The question I have is can a Junior sign a Letter of Commitment now, or does he have to wiat for the early signing period of his senior class?

Wow. I miss Elizabeth Traynor already.  Hatchet article on off-season recruiting does not mention the addition of Nick Griffen and questions whether Swan will get one of the available scholarships in 2014.  What?

 I would assume that Swan is going to get a scholarship, as he is a pretty legit prospect.

 Nick will do just fine as Hatchet sports editor even if he doesn't join Ms. Traynor in the Leslie Carlson ogle gallery. Article references "off-season" pickups so I'd suggest that Griffin wasn't included since he was an early signing period addition. Student coverage of sports in newspaper and on radio and on RaiseHigh TV has been pretty good the last several years. Will be nice if Post coverage increases and some sponsors come forward for TV games. Would be nice to see some commercials that bring in rather than spend money from athletic department coffers.

What We Like: As his minutes increased as the weekend went on, so too did Swan's shooting percentage. He got off to a slow start in the EYBL's second leg by going just 1-of-6 from three-point land, but turned it around by hitting on 6-of-12 3's over the final three games. Swan has a gorgeous stroke from deep and makes a number of smart, winning plays that don't always show up in the stat sheet. Besides the smooth J, he does a solid job of providing help defense and brings length to the rebound adequately at the '3' position.

Question Marks: Like a lot of players, Swan has to find ways to impact the game when his shot is not falling for him. Since he does provide good help on defense, when he occasionally leaves his guy open it sometimes bites him. He'll have to do a better job closing out on open shooters so it doesn't get him in too much trouble.

 V.E.S. guard Anthony Swan announced Thursday he's committed to George Washington University in the nation's capital.  Swan, who has a cousin who's the head associate coach at G.W., said it was a difficult decision.  He had narrowed his final three to G.W., Miami and Cincinnati.  But the Colonials win out.

 Not that I put any stock in it, but relative or not let's hear from the folks who track who GW recruits against. We will never know, but was Nigel's commitment to K State a factor?
