I sure hope the nasty weather does not hurt turn-out for the game much.  I, for one, like the 7 pm saturday night start.  Thinking back to the days when I was a student, it would have been cool to start the night with a game, and then adjourn directly to Odds, Abbey Road, the Rooster, or wherever we would be setting up shop for the evening.  And hopefully it also attracts more local fans and alumni who want to make the game the evening's entertainment.  So, smart move (although it probably has more to do with TV coverage).

Looking forward to the pre-game break-down!  Raise High!  (Did I really just say that -- I mean, Go GW!)

I like the Saturday night games, you can get your day taken care of and make a night of it. I, for one, am glad we don't ever have any noon games. Unless they are big freaking games on nationa television, I don't want noon games. I don't mind the 2pm starts, but I like the balance.

Unfortunately, I could not make the Charlotte game on Saturday because I gotta dragged to the VCU v. Old Dominion game.  We showed up in Richmond about 2 1/2 hours before the game and there were THOUSANDS of students in line.  By the way, this was in 20-something degree windy weather.  We went to a bar and returned about game time.  Even then, there were 500+ of students waiting in line just in case students who had gotten in would left.

They announced at the game that it was VCU's 11th straight sellout (in a 7,500 seat stadium).  Its very sad that we could only get about 2,000 to a Saturday night game.

Unfortunately that's just the culture of the student body but trust me we are trying to change that. Also keep in mind the following.

If GW made the final four last year and was playing a local rival (i.e. Maryland or Georgetown) I can guarantee you there would be a line of students waiting to get into the Smith Center. Maybe not thousands but there would be a much better student turnout than there is currently.

The student section was scaring me for a while...10 minutes before the game it was nearly empty...by the time starting lineups came it was pretty full.  It was loud too at the end.  Continued success will lead to continued support.

The lines were long and the crowds were wild in 2005, 2006.
