That's awesome.  I want to know which of our esteemed posters is the one written about in that article.

herve, old school colonial, and I trekked down to Charlotte for that game.  But none of us are "big boned".  Although I suspect I know who they are referring to, I won't say Bill's name out loud.

Another side note from that trip: one of the funniest and most offensive things I've heard in all my years of live sports.

UNC's fans in Charlotte are, well, let's just say there are a lot of NASCAR fans in Charlotte.  Nothing wrong with that...just some contet.  The GW fans (many of whom are, as we know....lets just say there are a lot of Devils & Rangers fans at GW) were getting frustrated and boisterous in the 2nd half, and the UNC fans were getting emboldened by the widening lead.  As the banter between fans grew more and more interesting, it was generally good-natured and non-specific.  Then some drunken UNC fan said something to a small group of drunken GW fans.

I didn't hear what eactly was said, but I did hear the drunken GW reply.  "Oh, why don't you go rape your sister!"

There was a visible groan from the ENTIRE GW block when that was uttered, then this mild fear we may not make it back to the parking lot in one piece. I also recall ALL the bars in Charlotte closing around 5pm....on a Saturday!

I've seen it mentioned on the board a few times and now it's here in this article, so I have to ask.  How close was GW to actually signing Allen Iverson?  As an '08 grad always ready to here about more about GW, I'd love to hear from one of the board's esteemed elders on what the story was.

Take a look at the date of that article, then take a look at the start date of the conference administration that ends this (or is it net?) month. Thanks Linda.

Bill Baroni has slimmed down since his GW days.  Also, he's an elected official up here in NJ.  I believe he's up for re-election as well.  I think he's a state representative.  I wonder how Mike Musante is doing now?

While I've never spoken to him, I see Mike Musante walking around DC all the time.

Musante was an ANC member in his Capitol Hill neighborhood a while back, not sure if he still is, however.

Baroni just got elected to the State Senate here in Jersey after a few years in the assembly... he's told me many a story about his participation in the Dog Pound during the Jarvis years.... His personalized license plate is in homage to his time at GWU.

Baroni's looked at by a number of people to be running for governor or lieutenant governor in the net election, and I hope I can be working for that campaign if it materializes.

Didn't Musante serve as an adviser to the F.W. de Klerk administration?

NJSPRIDE, refresh my memory: is Baroni R or D?  If he runs for Gov or Lt Gov and he's an R, I'll support him.  He was a nice guy.  A little overly goofy with the whole Dog Pound thing (that was such an atrocity), but he was a nice guy.  He was always a politician and that sort of style bothers me, but to each his own.  Let me know.  Maybe we'll stuff envelopes together.  I could help out in the Hunterdon County area if he's a Republican.

He's an R.  But at least he's a GW fan.

I had a couple of classes with that guy, Bill Baroni, and he was a complete and total dittohead.  Literally.  He was one of those who listened to Rush Limbaugh every day and then parroted back everything he heard virtually verbatim, with basically no Independent thought.

I hope now that he seems to be succeeding in electoral politics, that he's no longer a slave to dictates from up above.   But honestly, I doubt the people of New Jersey would be well served with him anywhere near the Governor's mansion.

....because we're doing so well with Corzine?

Anyway, a Republican stands very little chance of winning the Governor's seat.  I'd save my money and stay a powerful State Senator....and run for Congress later instead.

We're not talking about a Tom Kean-Republican here.  We're talking about a New Gingrich worshipping dittohead.

Just want to make sure that, partisanship aside, you understand who this guy is (or was, in college).

My understanding is that he is now very much a Tom Kean Republican, which is the only way to get elected in the state.  And as a former state resident, I must admit that I couldn't be prouder of New Jersey's political metamorphisis into a deep blue state.  Civil unions, no death penalty, I mean, WOW!!!

FQ, I understand.  I don't like anyone on the "far" side of any issue.  I'm a centrist, I guess, despite my military background.

FQ, that dittohead is now a pretty successful moderate in the State Senate.  He goes into some legitimate conservative territory once in awhile, but I'd think Rush Limbaugh wouldn't be his biggest fan these days.

"Mike Musante"

Holy cow.  There's a name I haven't heard in 15 years....

The reason I asked the Mike Musante question is I believe Baroni was the one who turned Musante out for his racist comments post-election for Student Association president.  I remember reading the quotes in the Hatchet and thinking Baroni was complicit, but over time I've developed the theory he was caught in an awkward situation and said some things to get out of the moment with Musante.  In the end, Mustante left GW for a while, I believe.  However, I see on linkedin Musante might have come back and is now running a communications firm in DC?  How is that for irony?  Anyway, I've taken up enough of Herve's space with non-basketball material.
