There was improvement but losing a bunch of close games at the end was not pleasant. How the program got in a position to have to start 4 freshmen and a transfer boggles the imagination. Our recruiting over the last several years reminds me, unfortunately, of Redskins' free agency and drafts prior to the last two years-- way too many misses! And a school like GW simply cannot afford that. Not one senior or junior led the way this season-- the guys you count on to do so. Some contributed but never consistently. Teamwise we lacked a leader on the floor and a scorer that could take control of the game. Too many guys on the roster, some that played, and some that didn't play, contributed almost nothing. I still believe that Lonergan can turn this around, but the team badly needs shooters, ballhandlers and more size inside. Hopefully the recruits for next year will fill in some of the holes-- only time will tell. In the meantime we'll have to deal with Georgetown's and Maryland's success and, even worse, other Colonials (Robert Morris) knocking off Kentucky!
