Not to belabor the issue, but I'll repeat the obvious: foul shooting is about practicing the right technique. Pops shoots with his body, from the knees up. Tamal and Omar, to name just two, give a wink and a nod to bending the knees, and then stand straight up before they sort of push, or flick, the ball toward the basket. That worked out well on Sunday, but it's guaranteed to lead to spotty results throughout the season. It was a joy watching Pops at the line a few games back, when he went something like 14 for 15 or 15 for 16. Flawless technique.
