He played for the best team in NY State as a sophomore, his older brother is going to Illinois, his sister is one of the top recruits in the country and his dad is Adrian Griffin, former NBA player.  We would be incredibly lucky to get this kid, but it ain't happening.

@GW914, that's his teammate AJ Griffin. We are not recruiting him.

Isn' that the HS that Tony Taylor went to?

hugh6/13/2018 4:02:59 PM

Yes, that’s Tony Taylor’s high school. Davis just finished his sophomore year and has been offered by Maryland, Illinois, and St. John’s, and his stock seems to be rising.

I’m from the Stepinac area, and it’s important to note that the school is not traditionally a basketball powerhouse, despite winning the state championship this year and having multiple high major players. Tony is probably the most well known/successful basketball alum in at least the past 10 years, and guys on the team now probably know about GW solely because of Tony. I’m assuming MoJo is using this to his advantage and going hard after a high major player who would be a difference maker, but usually out of reach. Not much more you can ask for than getting an unofficial visit at this point. I like it.

I think that Sean Kilpatrick is from that area as well and played AAU ball with Tony.

I think Hobbs went up there originally to recruit Kilpatrick and stumbled into Tony who was very young and Hobbs locked him up.

looks like a solid shooter who can pull up in transition, size might be an issue. Maybe having a 7'3'' wall in front of the basket will help our defensive size issues at other positions

Added a Seton Hall offer.
